14 weeks! - A little lemon & Father's Day

I can't believe how fast things are going by!! This little boy will seriously be here before we know it. He is now growing hair follicles (I will be super shocked if this kid isn't born with a full head of dark hair!), can urinate, and is approximately 3.5 inches long from crown to rump. So he's even longer than that including his little legs! The twins and my niece are cracking us all up lately with their name ideas. My niece votes for Rufus, and the twins were teasing me one day while I was making protein shakes and said we should name him Protein. So, if the kids are in charge, he'll be named Rufus Protein 🤣 That's what we call him when we talk about things because it is so funny, so it just may stick as a nickname lol. I am still trying to convince Blake of my 2 fav boy names but he still isn't loving them. So we'll probably go with the one we do both love, which is another C name, ha ha. But he has sworn me to secrecy since so many people have stolen our names over the years, ha ha. But I think I'll convince him to let me tell people like we did with with twins 😀

We had a wonderful Father's Day with Daddy/Blake today at home! And we got to go celebrate some more at Blake's aunt and uncle's house this evening with cousins. The kids were thrilled to get to play with cousins we haven't seen in awhile! Blake also had a great birthday the other day. We are sooo grateful that he is here to celebrate it with us. We are both still traumatized, especially me since he was unconscious and convulsing, from his near death experience in May. So little things like building things with the kids, as well as big things like birthdays and Father's Days, are extra sweet and special these days.

I am definitely getting more energy lately and am able to eat more. Hooray!! I have been craving Mexican and Chinese foods like crazy, but I sadly have so many food allergies that we can't eat out. So, I bought some tasty allergy friendly corn tamales from Costco instead and it has been heavenly!! Topped with my fav guac and some sweet onion salsa...yum! I was so proud of myself the other day because I vacuumed, mopped, did 2 loads of laundry AND 2 loads of dishes...in the same day, not the same week 🥳🤣 Going to stores still wears me the heck out, but doing my light workouts is getting easier at least. My rash is ALMOST gone, again, knock on wood! I just need to stay inside 24/7 and I'm golden. Seriously, going outside for even 5 mins causes major flare ups! So I hope I have been able to flush most of this dang yeast out of my system with the nettle and dandelion teas I've been drinking & the TRS. Both teas are great for naturally flushing the liver and preventing yeast infections and UTIs. And I have been able to resume use of the zeolite spray that helped Cameron and Claire so much. It is safe for pregnancy and also helps get rid of yeast. It has worked wonders topically also. One day after getting groceries I was insanely itchy and the TRS took the sting and itch out of my skin immediately. It was so awesome! I hope that I will be yeast free very soon! Stupid antibiotics...

Have a wonderful Father's Day everyone! We are so grateful for all of the wonderful men in our lives 💙

Hello 2nd trimester! - A wiggly baby & Fingerprints

Hello 2nd trimester!! I am so glad that my morning/all day sickness has subsided over the last few weeks. I was so sick with the twins for quite awhile, so this being normal thing is HEAVENLY! I still get nauseated a few or several times a day but I'll take it, ha ha! In the back of my mind I was thinking, "oh no, is this a bad thing I'm not sick anymore??" because my morning sickness faded with angel baby Cannon and we didn't know he/she had passed away from the subchorrionic hemorrhages I had. So it has kind of made me nervous even though I have had no cramping or bleeding or anything else. But we got to see our tiny wiggly little man yesterday at the birthing center! My appointment was just to address any concerns and hear the heart beat on the doppler. But poor Wendy was having a heck of a time finding the baby with the doppler, so much so that she was trying to get me in for an ultrasound somewhere because she didn't want me to worry. But it turned out that my bladder was just too full and the baby was also hiding behind my pelvic bone, ha ha. Once I went to the restroom she was able to see him on the ultrasound (a machine they only use to make sure baby is head down, so it isn't high tech or ideal for earlier in pregnancy, ha ha) and finally found him with the doppler. He was a wiggly and busy little dude from what we could see! His heart rate was in the 140s, she said it sounded great. The twins weren't sure if they liked all the doppler noises or not, ha ha. And they were definitely bummed we couldn't see well on the ultrasound screen because they "wanted to see our baby!" They were pretty good at the appointment yesterday. They talked everyone's ears off, told them I've got a baby in my belly, and that some colors mixed together make other colors 🤣 Such characters. And Claire was in love with all the baby photos on the walls, ha ha.

I don't need to be seen at the birthing center for another 4 weeks. The midwife I saw yesterday wants me to do a 24 hour urine test so that we can get a baseline number for the protein in my urine. We can repeat this test again later after 20 weeks and see if it looks like I'm possibly developing pre-eclampsia again. She is hoping I don't since it is so common with first pregnancies only, as well as multiples pregnancies. So, crossing our fingers that it stays away this time because I can't deliver at the birthing center if I develop it, and that will just upset my whole "natural birth plan" and I'll cry like a big freaking baby, lol. I also refuse to have to wear a mask during delivery at a stupid hospital! That's just plain insanity. I will also start taking one baby aspirin daily now to prevent the pre-eclampsia as well, and continue to eat 80 to 100g protein per day. I also was taking magnesium but that was causing me too many tummy issues so I had to quit. But apparently being deficient in salt can also contribute to it, so I've been making sure to use more iodized salt on my foods instead of sea salt and himalayan all the time. Salt is very important for our health! Not too much of course but we definitely need some. Salt also aids in digestion, blood sugar control, promotes good oral health, helps remove toxins, prevents iodine deficiency and much more!

Wendy mentioned something interesting yesterday, regarding the pre-eclampsia. She said "it can also depend on who the father is..." I was like huh?! Then it hit me...duh, the twins are from Embryo Adoption and have a different biological father (and mother) than this new baby will. We never remember that they aren't from our DNA because they've always just felt like our sweet little babies in EVERY single way! But apparently the father can affect your chances of getting pre-eclampsia too. As well as the sex of the baby. Boys increase your chances. Even though it runs in my family (first pregnancies only) and the twins were a multiple pregnancy, I still found that very interesting so I did some research. I found a lot of info, but here is a little blurb from something I read..." Preeclampsia is a serious complication of pregnancy that has been recognized as far back as ancient Egypt, but its causes have eluded researchers even in modern times. The condition is characterized by elevated blood pressure (systolic >140 mm Hg and/or diastolic >90 mm Hg, detected on two separate readings at least 4 hours apart) occurring after 20 weeks gestation. Along with the elevated blood pressure, there is dysfunction of a maternal organ –usually the kidney, showing up as protein in the urine. Preeclampsia affects about 5 percent of expecting mothers and is an obstetric emergency that threatens the mother and especially the fetus. In extreme cases, it can be a prelude to other, worse conditions. One is called HELLP syndrome and the other is eclampsia. Both can lead quickly to maternal death.

Science has recognized family factors associated with preeclampsia risk for quite a while. If your mother or sister has had it, for instance, you have an elevated risk. Obstetricians and scientists also have known for some time that preeclampsia is more likely if the fetus is a boy, rather than a girl, in non-Asian populations.

Prompted by research suggesting that fathers too can contribute to preeclampsia risk of a pregnancy, the new study shows that a specific genetic sequence in the fetal DNA can trigger preeclampsia. Specifically, it’s a variation in a gene called sFlt-1, and it’s very common; about 50 percent of the population carries the sequence. So clearly, fetal genetics alone cannot lead to preeclampsia. But it is a start at understanding preeclampsia at the genetic level, and it may turn out that the sFlt-1 sequence and the male fetal gender phenomenon work together, through a related mechanism. Whatever the details, it’s clear that something that’s generated in the fetus affects the mother’s physiology –certainly though factors that are heritable (transmissible from parent to child), possibly by affecting the expression of genes in the mother’s cells.

Another implication of the discovery is that, as far as risk goes, it’s not just having a mother or a sister with a history of preeclampsia that should go into the records. Cases of preeclampsia among your male partner’s female relatives –his mother, his sisters, his aunts, his grandmothers– also could be important to the family history."

We bought the kids a water gun 2 pack at Costco and a pack of Bunch O Balloons. They had tons of fun with them when we got home! It has reached 116 here in AZ so far (ugh!!), so water play is always fun and ideal! Uncle Austin and family also bought the kids a fun sprinkler for our trampoline for their birthday, so they've been loving that also. Forget the idea of a nice above ground pool this year, we'll do all this instead, ha ha! I seriously have zero desire to maintain a pool in this heat while pregnant 😩

An older couple at Costco absolutely adored the twins! Cameron told the man he liked his hat (it looked kind of like an Indiana Jones hat and the twins LOVE playing Lego Indiana Jones on Xbox with Daddy) and the man said, "I do actually have one that looks just like an Indiana Jones hat but it's at home..." Cam was highly impressed, lol. The twins are so funny with strangers and always make people's days by being so sweet and cute and innocent ❤ I'm so excited to have another!

I am still struggling with this dang yeast rash!! It is about 80% better but I have had some new itchy areas pop up on my sides and legs, but I am praying hard it'll go away because this hot AZ heat makes it absolutely unbearable, and worse. I really hope I don't battle yeast and UTIs throughout this whole pregnancy 😫 My appetite is getting better and better and I've been able to eat more things. I also feel like I'm getting a little more energy every week, so that has been nice! I didn't die at Costco yesterday, just needed a water and banana break, lol. So that made my day because I was really dreading needing to go. Plus, I was worried about Blake. But we were all champs, including the kids! Yay for not collapsing in Costco! 🥳🤪 Blake did get winded and we had to stop a few times, but he did good. He says he feels like we are in Colorado again, ha ha. We both really struggled with feeling short of breath when visiting a friend there years ago, due to the change in altitude. Today is his first day back to work and I know he's stressing, but I hope he does ok. I told him to just take it easy and not worry because he'll probably spend most of his first days back telling people why he was off for 6 weeks over and over again, lol. And going through the 10,000 emails he has waiting for him of course (not kidding, eek! 🙄). He took his inhaler, pulse/oxygen thingy to monitor his oxygen, his shield (he was able to get an ADA approval for a shield so he doesn't have to wear a mask!), and some snacks. I hope he feels back to his old air breathing self again soon!

Baby boy now has fingerprints and all of his organs are formed and starting to function if they aren't already! His tiny spleen is even making red blood cells for oxygen. So crazy that there is a perfectly tiny little person in there! And even crazier that it didn't cost us over $5,000 to get pregnant, ha ha. I am still blown away that this is even happening most days! Total miracle! Baby will spend the rest of the pregnancy growing longer, stronger, and heavier. I hope and pray that all continues to go well! We are so, so grateful for this little man and the two beautiful babies we already have ❤

Goodbye pneumonia!!

Hallelujah!!! Blake's x-rays from yesterday afternoon show that he no longer has any pneumonia in his lungs! Two weeks ago he still had some hanging out in the very bottom of his "very long lungs". This has been pneumonia from hell and it just didn't want to go away. He has had 3 antibiotics, an antibiotic injection, a steroid injection, steroid pills, two inhalers, a whole slew of vitamins daily, and then I finally treated him with some colloidal silver in the nebulizer at home a few times. I think that did the trick because he wasn't feeling or seeing any progress from his 4th antibiotic. Silver is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-parasitic. And no, he won't turn blue, lol. That only happens when people try to make their own silver or use a lot of silver that contains silver proteins. Colloidal silver is a completely different thing. We use it on bug bites, when we get sick, rashes, eye styes, cuts and scrapes, and much more. You can also use it to purify water, so we keep some in our emergency bug out back packs👍

Anyways, he will need to continue his breathing exercises for a couple more weeks, and will still see the Pulmonologist on the 21st. His doctor felt it wouldn't hurt since he was so sick for so long. He said he usually sees people have pneumonia for a couple weeks, not more than 6 weeks. So we want to err on the side of caution and double check that all is well. It'll take him a month or more to start getting his strength back I think. The doctor said to plan on the lung scarring being there for at least a few months. He's really frustrated with not being able to breathe as well as he'd like (oxygen was at 94% at the doctor office - they want it above 96), but at least the infection is gone now! Hopefully he'll breathe easier after the scarring starts to go away. He has started helping with dishes and laundry and things around the house to help get some strength back since he can't go walking or work out just yet because he gets too winded and dizzy. He looks like his old self again (his face doesn't look pale and sickly anymore), so hopefully he'll start feeling himself soon!

So, so very grateful that it wasn't his time to go. I badly need him here. Our sweet babies need him here, our little one on the way, and many others. He is a totally awesome daddy, a wonderful provider and very hard worker, and life would have been so very sad and dull without him! Even though that night was extremely scary and stressful, I know that Heavenly Father and many angels were watching out for him, me, and our sweet baby boy on the way! So grateful for our little family, our beautiful home, our miracle babies, and all that we have ❤ It was an emotional day for me yesterday, and today too honestly. What a HUGE relief to be able to start putting this nightmare behind us! Now if my dang rash would just go away completely already. I want to tear my skin off! I am so grateful for our family members who came to visit, who helped out, messaged and called us, and for all those praying for us and thinking of us. We love you all!

PS...I CANNOT believe we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary this December!! Thought I'd share some pics. The first one was taken on our honeymoon cruise to Jamaica and the Grand Cayman in Dec 2006. So fun! The other picture is recent and was taken the day we found out we are having a miracle BABY BOY! ❤

11 & 12 weeks - Goodbye 1st trimester!

I forgot to take a belly picture last week, oh well ha ha. I can't believe I am 13 weeks on Saturday! Goodbye, 1st trimester!! I am lucky this time around and only had morning/all day sickness from weeks 5 to 10 this time around 🥳 My nausea has eased up a lot and I haven't vomited in almost 3 weeks. I was vomiting multiple times a day until 5 months with the twins! I would probably take that over this horrific yeast rash straight from the underworld though! I have been SOOOO ITCHY and miserable. I have tried so many natural remedies to get rid of yeast rashes. Some helps, most does nothing. I emailed my midwife to see if there are any topical creams that are safe for pregnancy but stronger than the Monistat cream. My belly, chest and back are still so, so itchy! I hope it clears up soon, as my sanity can't take it much longer. I have no idea how these poor women with PUPPS manage. Good grief, my heart goes out to you ladies! Going to do some safe liver detoxing through foods and dandelion root tea and see if that helps. I have been feeling like I have a little more energy lately, but still feel lazy, ha ha. I absolutely hate to cook and clean normally, but pregnancy has made it much worse lol. I really need a maid, and also a personal chef that doesn't charge and who is highly trained in cooking for multiple people with 8+ food allergies 🤣😭

Baby has undergone some major growth these last few weeks. Its cute little body, organs, etc., are all formed now and just need to mature the remainder of the pregnancy. It no longer looks like a little alien but a bitty little person ❤ It still feels weird to say "he/him" ha ha, but we are so excited for another boy!! I am pretty sure that I have started feeling him move (was about 13 weeks with the twins when I first noticed movement). Not sure if I've mentioned that before, but so fun! The little guy's kidneys are now producing urine, his reflexes are getting more advanced (fists clenching, knees bending, sucking movement with mouth, etc.), and is approximately 2-3 inches long. Most places I read say 3 inches, so the size of a plum or so. Hoping my appt next week at the birthing center goes well. I believe we get to hear the heart beat and I can even bring the kiddos! It is a relief to be entering the 2nd trimester, as the risk of miscarriage goes down quite a bit. And as someone who has had 2 losses, that is often on my mind or at least in the back of it.

We mostly have been homebodies and go nowhere or do anything ha ha, but the kids did get some gifts in the mail from Papa and Grandma. Thanks for the princess necklaces and Minion goggles!

Blake has a follow up with his doctor on Friday, so we are hoping more x-rays will show that the pneumonia is GONE! That will be a huge relief for both of us. It has been nice having him off but he is eager to get back to work and get back to normal. Me too! He is done with his 4th antibiotic and has also done a few treatments of colloidal silver in the nebulizer, so we hope he can fully recover soon! Thanks for all of your prayers and support, we love ya!

The gender & genetic screening results are in!!!

💙💙💙 IT'S A BOY!!! 💙💙💙

Well, I was super shocked when the birthing center called with the results today, ha ha. I was for SURE thinking it was a girl 🤣 I was wrong with the twins also, thought they were both boys. So, apparently I need to go with the opposite of what I think, ha ha. We are so thrilled to be getting another BOY!! And so grateful that the blood work for the genetic screenings came back great! We were told in 2008 that if we ever had our own that it would likely have major health issues because of the supposed genetic issues with Blake's sperm. We feel such relief and happiness today! It is so awesome to know all of this so soon too. We hope and pray that things keep going well! I unfortunately can't upload the video of the twins opening the box because it is just over a minute long, but here's some pictures at least and a short video of us all afterwards 🥰🥳
