I CANNOT believe that our sweet little humans turned one month old on Monday! They're the cutest little things and changing so fast. Claire has chubbed up more and both have already changed a lot. Claire is much more alert and both are awake for longer periods of time. We don't know their weights and lengths because their well check isn't for another week because I'm out of town, but they sure are growing! Cameron fits into newborn diapers now with only a little sag, and Claire isn't too far behind. Crazy that she still wears preemie diapers at one month old. Love our teenie tinies! Cameron is also long enough to fit into some of the newborn clothes. Both are still so small around though. I love their tiny bellies! I don't think we'd know what to do with regular sized babies, ha ha. My sister said they looked like tiny dolls when she first saw them, he he. That was only a week ago.
I am hanging in there but am absolutely sleep deprived. Surprise surprise, lol. I ain't gonna sugar coat it, lol...I cry often (tears of exhaustion and happiness - post partum hormones suck!), I feel like death some days, only able to shower every couple days if I'm lucky, and have giant dark circles under my eyes. I actually fell asleep for a couple of seconds the other night while standing in the kitchen warming up the babies' bottles. Scared the crap outta me because I started to tip over, ha ha. Don't worry, wasn't holding anyone. Being a new mommy of twins is HARD sometimes. Especially when you're trying to recover from laying in bed for 1/4 of a year right before giving birth, ha ha. We are so beyond thrilled to have these precious, sweet, beautiful babies and wouldn't trade them for anything, I'm not trying to whine. But, babies are A LOT of work. You fellow mommies of twins and not twins already know this. Every night that I am just absolutely baffled that I'm still functioning though, I just have to look at their sweet faces, take in a deep breath of their sweet baby smell, and I'm recharged and fall in love all over again. I have been amazed at what I didn't think I could do that I actually can! Some days are a confidence booster. Though I'm exhausted, we are super happy and grateful for these insanely cute babies! Also, so glad to be visiting family right now and have some baby helpers so I can nap. Yay!! I have come to realllly appreciate naps and showers. Friends keep saying welcome to mombiehood! Ha ha. So grateful to my family and to my hubby for all of their help!
Are these not the cutest babies everrrr?!?
Happy one month babies!
Dairy is the devil! Many of you know that I'm allergic and it makes me extremely sick. So, of course I ate/drank none while pregnant. So the babies never got anything dairy. They've really been having a hard time on formula and with my breastmilk. So much so that I quit breastfeeding (had a really low supply from exhaustion anyways) because Claire was so backed up and it made Cameron super fussy. They also have tried three different kinds of Similac with no luck. Poor Cameron acted like he he had been fed acid within five minutes of drinking a bottle and Claire wouldn't drink a whole bottle, she'd just shut down and end up really backed up. So, I thought we should try soy formula just incase they have a dairy allergy like me by some freak chance or just a sensitivity from getting none during pregnancy. Some tiny tummies just can't handle dairy for the first year. It's not extremely uncommon. Sure enough though, both babies in less than 2 feedings were doing great. Still are. So sad that they can't tolerate it but just so glad they're feeling better. It broke my heart to see Cameron so miserable. He would turn purple from crying so hard and would act like his dirty diaper was lava. Poor kiddos. So, Daddy is the only dairy consumer in our house for now. Wheat and dairy are the two hardest things for the body to process, I'm surprised more people can't tolerate it. Both of those things are in everything now a days.
My sister came to visit and the babies got to meet their baby cousin! She's only 7.5 months old but looks like a GIANT compared to the twins, lol. It was so fun to watch Joyce check out the twins. She would look at one and then whip her head over to the other. You could tell she was confused there were two, he he. Anyways, I've been waiting a long time to have a cousins picture with my sister, so these are special to me. Definitely need to take better ones later. Love these three! Also, the babies had their first outting this last week that wasn't a doctors appointment! My sister and I loaded up all of the babies and went to Sonic :) It's also the first time I had driven since going on bed rest in February, ha ha. Felt super weird. Yay for sonic and their delicious ice!
